Kantrias to the World
From the Kantrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Happy Valentine's Day!
By: Sara Leutria
Especially today, we here in Kantrias hope that you know and feel how much you are appreciated and how grateful we are for having relations with Lone Wolves United!
We have things to share, for in this first official issue of our Foreign Affairs Update of 2021 we have put news of our government changing. We have new Ministers who are guided by a freshly-elected Supreme Chancellor!
Let's also not forget the very important position of Speaker, who is also freshly elected and seems eager to get started!
The Supreme Chancellor Election
By: Skar Quilor
Back on the 28th of January 2021, the 4th Supreme Chancellor Election was announced. The moment that Saldagon announced that he would be running for the Supreme Chancellor position, several of the people within Kantrias held in their breath; they knew who Saldagon was and what he stood for, and the fact that he was the first - fully independent - Kantrian to run for the position of Supreme Chancellor really raised the expectations, a lot.
Supreme-Chancellor-to-be Saldagon - for he was unopposed during the elections - posted his campaign, stating that the people of Kantrias deserved to know what he stands for.
Saldagon stated that he had seen the immense potential of Kantrias, and that he sees opportunity to build Kantrias up even beyond what it currently is.
Like I said, expectations were raised.
On the 6th of February 2021, Saldagon was successfully elected Supreme Chancellor, and not soon after began to work on what he had promised in their campaign; to strengthen and build upon the foundations laid by those who came before, and to start working on reforms.
The Speaker Election
By: Skar Quilor
While we knew the person running for the Supreme Chancellor position, we really did not know anything about the Kantrian running for the position of Speaker.
On the 28th of January 2021, the Speaker Election was annouced. In this election, a rather unknown Kantrian ran for the position and won the election not soon after, with zero abstains. It would seem that the population of Kantrias was looking forward to having someone fresh fill the position of Speaker.
Aetherel ran for the position unopposed and won the election on the 6th of February 2021.
We look forward to seeing Aetherel at work, and hope to be able to provide her an act or proposal to supervise!
Passing the 'Recognizing the 'Family Registry'' act
By: Skar Quilor
On the 3rd of January 2021 the Recognizing The "Family Registry"-act was passed by a unanimous vote!
This act was written up after Skar Quilor first published the Executive Order that reintroduced the Family Registry to Kantrias. It solidified the family registry and made it into a law, rather than a repealable Executive Order.
Both the original Executive Order and the new Recognizing The "Family Registry"-act were written to achieve the goal of increasing unity and activity. Which now that we can look back, it has!
Passing the 'Criminal Code' act into law
By: Saldagon
Originally drafted in an older iteration of Kantrias, the Criminal Code has been improved and updated allowing for a fair and balanced response to a wide array of infractions.
Passed in a bid to shore up the Security Act, as well as provide the region administrators and High Tribunal with a clear criteria for crimes within Kantrias, the Criminal Code is the strongest piece of legislation passed to date, and is now another testament to our collective efforts to maintain our status as a safe and friendly place to be in!
Operation "Boom Beach"
By: Skar Quilor
Representing the Alliance of Kantrias, the Hebronian First Legion (commanded by Grand General Samuel Jackson III) was joined by forces from Deputy General Caldemar Leutria and Private Mihai Zobieski. As "Operation Boom Beach" was a success, the Medal of Duty was created by the Grand General, and awarded to both Deputy General Caldemar Leutria and Private Mihai Zobieski.
Grand General Samuel Jackson III helped with Command, and all objectives were achieved. A record was set! Kantrias had provided troops as part of the largest raider force in modern memory!
Furthermore... Kantrias congratulates Mihai Zobieski for being promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal! Very well-done!
The February 2021 Minister Elections
By: Skar Quilor / Caldemar Leutria
The first Minister Elections of 2021 were announced and held in Kantrias! A brief personality profile of the participants can be found below, in order of announcing their candidacy.
Sara Leutria was the first Kantrian to put her name forward for Minister. Taking a step back - she was Supreme Chancellor last time - Sara Leutria is happy to run for Minister of Culture. She assures us that she has the energy and drive to act as a Minister, and feels like her recent term as Supreme Chancellor will aid her in her endeavors! While her primary ministry is the Ministry of Culture, she is willing to learn about the Ministry of Recruitment. If elected, Sara Leutria plans to have a good conversation with Supreme Chancellor Saldagon on how to best engage Kantrians within the region. Gamenights and fun contests will for sure be happening if she gets elected!
Skar Quilor was the second Kantrian to announce his candidacy. Having served two terms as Minister of Foreign Affairs already, Skar Quilor intends to get re-elected for the same position again, as he believes that his work is far from done. In his previous term among his biggest accomplishments was the re-establishing of relations with several befriended regions. If re-elected, Skar Quilor will be training the two newest additions to the Foreign Affairs Ministry; Fored Cand and Baobab. He believes that they have the potential to become great diplomats. Skar Quilor hopes to reach out to Caer Sidi and The Black Hawks, especially after the very successful, record-setting Operation Boom Beach! While looking forward to working with Supreme Chancellor Saldagon, he admits that their relationship has been rocky in the past. When asked to elaborate, Skar Quilor has said that he has grown quite fond of Supreme Chancellor Saldagon in recent months and looks forward to working with him.
Thirdly, Ichika A. Zobieski announced her candidacy with hope of serving a second term as Minister of Culture. Currently having one term under her belt, she feels like she is better equipped and more confident going into a second term. Ichika A. Zobieski's largest accomplishment during her last term was the Snowblossom Festival, for which she gained much praise from her fellow Kantrians. If re-elected, Ichika A. Zobieski hopes to continue game nights on weekends and some Wednessdays, and going beyond that she feels the best way to engage the various parts of Kantrias (the forums, RMB and Discord) is by meeting her fellow Kantrians where they are, and through maintaining activity in those places. She hopes to work with Supreme Chancellor Saldagon, not being fond of having a leadership role within her Ministry.
Kolron Zobieski, A newcomer to the Kantrian political scene, has started off in Kantrias back in September 2020 as the diplomat from Birnir, but in a mere month decided to move a nation to our region to become a Kantrian himself. In that time he has contributed to activity in the region, both on the RMB posting as both Tuskena and The Seraph Foundation, and on the forums. Kolron Zobiski says he runs with the goal of helping serve his fellow Kantrians. He too would like to serve as Minister of Culture, but has expressed that he is open to learning new things.
Baobab was a surprise entry, announcing his candidacy with only a day left in the standing period. Originally a Europeia-native, he has long been associated with Kantrias through discussions on our RMB and the Discord. Baobab is experienced, and would like to be elected Minister of Culture, as it is his favorite ministry to work in and entertaining people is what he loves. Baobab has been involved in this area in other regions, but has expressed that if he could not work in the Ministry of culture, his next choice would be the Foreign Affairs Ministry, as he has some experience in that ministry as well. If elected and made Minister of Culture, Baobab's first priority would be expanding on game nights, which he wants to include the RMB in more extensively. Baobab has expressed that he looks forward to working with Supreme Chancellor Saldagon, but would rather be left to their own devices with a leadership role over the ministry.
Having provided a personality profile on all of our February 2021 Minister Elections candidates, we are happy to announce the winners:
First off, Skar Quilor has won the February 2021 Minister Elections with a total of 14 votes.
Secondly, Ichika A. Zobieski has won the February 2021 Minister Elections with a total of 11 votes.
The third place we cannot announce just yet, as we have a third-place tie between Sara Leutria and Baobab! We look forward to the run-off election!
Feel free to join the Kantrian Regional Forums to follow the third-place run-off election!
Kantrias congratulates all of our newly-elected Ministers, and appreciates the thought and care put into their campaigns!
